The Advocate Justice The Advocate Series Book 10 edition by Teresa Burrell Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
- A late-night knock on the door and the surprise appearance of a 10-year-old niece unknown to him slams JP Torn into family issues, a missing person/murder investigation, and possibly the loss of the most important relationship in his life.
Book 10 in this well-written, realistic series about California juvenile court attorney Sabre Brown, her bff/law partner, Bob Clark, and Torn, her investigator, deals with child neglect, the wrongfully accused, communication problems, domestic abuse, and parents doing things in front of children that should land them in jail. Conner, JP’s surprise nephew, is accused of murdering an unpleasant character who may have tried to molest Morgan, JP’s niece. Sabre’s side investigation into a man on a dating site who is targeting women with children causes contention between Sabre and JP, and their miscommunication drives a web into their relationship.
The author creates a nice balance between explaining what goes on in the juvenile justice system and the central mystery, peopling her stories with dimensional, authentic characters, even the “bad guys.†Sabre, Bob, JP, and the rest of the courthouse regulars seem very real to me. Following along as they try to do what’s best for their young clients while searching for the truth and maintaining personal lives is what keeps me coming back for more.
I recommend these be read in order – while you can read them out of order, I find knowing the backstories makes reading the current story much richer and more enjoyable. - From beginning to end, Teresa Burrell's The Advocate's Justice held my attention. So much so that I couldn't stop to go to sleep which I needed before another day's workl. The interpersonal relationship between JP and Sabre continues to evolve with a bump or two in the middle, and the discovery of unknown relatives brings the story depth and new understandings for everyone, as do renewed family relationships that haven't always been the best. The plot lines are complex and intricate but well developed, and the pacing is perfect. I was enwrapped in the characters lives as an observer in the story, just as I love, and the resolutions were perfect for my taste, leaving me waiting for more. Congratulations, Teresa, on this most excellent addition to The Advocate Series.
- I just LOVED this book!! I always wait (not-so) patiently for the next installment of the Advocate series by Teresa Burrell, and this one definitely did not fail to amaze me! The way Ms. Burrell can create these stories, and weave the characters in such a way that you just become "family" with them, is such a rare talent. Sabre, JP, Bob, Ron, and now the addition to the family of Morgan and Connor... well, I just can't wait for the next one to see where they go! Thanks, Mr. Burrell for another great read! The only bad thing I'll say about this book is that I read it too fast and it ends too soon!

- For a look at the juvenile court system, reading this book will give it to you. In today’s world, this story is probably not hard to believe. Of course you know how it’s going to end. The enjoyment is getting there.
- I couldn't put it down. Teresa captured me right away and with her style of story telling I was anxious to see where she was taking us. She kept you on the edge until the very end.
- The whole series is wonderful. I would recommend you reading all of them. This book gave a good look into JP. He makes a good Uncle Johnny. In his words if that ain’t a fact,God is a possum.
- Have read the entire series and love the characters. The court proceedings seem real and the child aspect draws the reader into each situation. Can’t wait for Book 11.
