- Mrs Ross is a fascinating human being and her approach to native culture, including food, in every place she lived was the way to live our lives wherever we find ourselves...one day, in full, at a time.
- Awesome condition for a recipe book so old.
- This is a wonderful turn-of-the (last) century Italian vegetable cookbook. Not all recipes are vegetarian; ham and anchovies are sometimes used as seasonings. But the recipes are really good, and there are a lot of them; three different pumpkin soups or stuffed mushrooms rather than one. Like other old cookbooks, quantities are often described as "a bit", or just "add oil", and sometimes ingredients are taken for granted (eg. I don't think salt is ever mentioned). So not for beginners! But the great thing about it is that a huge number of recipes (or shall we say recipe sketches) are packed into this little book.
Note the original edition is public domain and available in cheap paperbacks with no pictures. But the hardback would be nice as a gift, or for those who like to browse for inspiration. - Liked the content but pricey for what you get. Glad I ordered from here because the website charges shipping on top of their price. I do research and liked the book.
